The Type 61 was a main battle tank used by Japan Self-Defence Force, developed as the first Japanese domestic production tank post WWII. 560 units of Type 61 were manufactured from 1961 to 1975. In late 1980s the tank did receive minor upgrades. All of them were retired by year 2000.
